Lecturer profileCurrent post:
Community Fundraiser

Short resume of career to date:
I have worked in the financial services sector for over 36 years and held a variety of roles. My first role was working at NatWest bank as a junior office clerk and I have also worked at Aviva and Friends Life. My last role in the sector was as an operations manager managing a team of 15. Our department managed all of the online offerings which meant keeping the external websites and intranets fully up to date.
I became more interested in the charity sector and started to volunteer and fundraise and made to the move to Alzhiemer’s Society in August 2015

Experience relevant to the topic:
I am a Dementia Friends Champion and this qualifies me to deliver a Dementia Friends session.
I also work for the UK’s leading dementia charity and my role allows me to support people living with dementia.
I also lost my uncle to dementia last year so I have first hand experience of the impact that the disease can have on everyone involved.

Feedback from other courses given:
Feedback from session delivered to NHS staff -
“Many thanks for coming in and running the session. Feedback from staff is that it was very interesting and informative. They really enjoyed it, hopefully when we have patients admitted with a diagnosis of Dementia or short term memory loss the staff will understand how the patient will be feeling etc”

Feedback delivered to one of our corporate partners -
“It was lovely to see you yesterday and thanks so much for coming in. The whole session was very useful but I found your bookcase analogy particularly interesting”
