Aims | Following completion of the two day course, participants will be able to apply their knowledge to: correctly select those endodontic cases with which modern preparation and obturation techniques can be applied. Participants will have an understanding of the limitations of each technique enabling them to effectively plan endodontic procedures within their practicing arrangements. This will result in both reduced levels of operator stress whilst optimising the technical standard of their root fillings. |
Objectives | Preparation: Aims and Objectives: (DAY 1 – all day) By the end of the day participants will have an understanding of: Case pre-selection Hand instrumentation using the Step Down technique The application of a simplified single instrument (WaveOne Gold) technique The application of ProTaper Next™ How to use the X-Smart™ Plus Endodontic Motor Participants will prepare 4 plastic blocks – one using their own technique, one using Step Down, one using WaveOne Gold and one using the ProTaper Next. Course participants will be using these blocks for obturation on Day 2 of the course. Obtruation - Aims and Objectives: (DAY 2 - AM) By the end of the morning participants will have an understanding of: The cold lateral compaction technique (advantages and disadvantages, and customising the master cone) Heated (intra-canal, extra-canal and thermoplastic) techniques, including pre-coated carrier techniques; advantages and drawbacks The availability of various sealers and their characteristics GP and Resin-based obturation Post hole preparation Hands-on obturation using the Calamus System and GuttaCore techniques Case discussion – Aims and Objectives (Day 2 – PM) By the end of the afternoon participants will have an understanding of the correct application of the above techniques through the use of real patient cases |
