Lecturer profileJulia has an honors degree in Education and Professional Development and holds a range of post qualifications to support her role in dental education. In 2016 she was awarded Fellowship from the Faculty of Dental Trainers [FDT] at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is an executive member of the FDT board. In 2019 Julia was made an Ambassador of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Faculty of Dental Surgery.

She works at Health Education England [Yorks and Humber] as part of Dental Workforce Development where she commissions and delivers education to dental teams. She also supports general dental practices involved in Dental Foundation Training, Therapy Foundation Training and Performance List Validation by Experience [PLVE].

Julia is a Tutor at Leeds Dental Institute teaching the NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing and quality assures both pre-registration training and post-graduate educational courses. In 2006 Julia became an examiner for the NEBDN, swiftly moving into a Supervising Examiner role, then in 2014 Diploma Committee member; writing and quality assuring written exam papers and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations.

Lecturer profileGeraldine is a Dental Workforce Development Postgraduate Tutor for Health Education England, based at the University of Leeds. This role involves development, provision and commissioning of high quality CPD to support a multi-professional workforce and meet the needs of NHS Flexible Commissioning. Geraldine is part of the Dental Foundation quality management training practice inspection team.

Geraldine has also worked for the GDC for over 10 years in registration assessment of EEA and Non EEA applicants, educational quality assurance of UK dental schools and fitness to practise. Current roles being as an Investing Committee Chair and Clinical Case Examiner.

Geraldine is a Dental Specialist Advisor for the Care Quality Commission, participating in primary and secondary care dental inspections and specialising in infection control.

Geraldine is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Faculty of Dental Trainers and sits on the Executive Board.

Lecturer profileSue Boynton BDS LLM FFGDP(UK) FFFLM is a retired dentist with over 20 years’ experience in primary care dentistry. She is recognised for assisting numerous dental professionals with a wide range of dentolegal issues over almost 20 years.

Sue works as an Independent Dentolegal Consultant, using her extensive, in-depth, knowledge and experience gained from her work over many years with a dental indemnity organisation. She continues to assist dentists and dental teams with dentolegal issues including GDC, CQC, complaints and claims.

On top of her wide-ranging experience of complex dentolegal issues, Sue also brings her expertise to articles and e-learning initiatives. She is part of the Profession-wide complaints handling initiative working group and Sue is a member of the National Advisory Board for Human Factors in Dentistry.

Sue has a Master’s Degree in Medical Law, and is a Fellow of the Faculty of General Dental Practice, a Fellow of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine, and an NLP Master. She shares her knowledge and expertise on dentolegal issues in the UK and internationally and is a hugely popular speaker who is passionate about risk management and helping dental teams.

Lecturer profileDr. Robert Dyas is a specialist in Oral Surgery who started his specialist training in England where he was awarded a Welcome Trust Training Fellowship and FDS from the Royal College of Surgeons. He has worked as a Lecturer to undergraduate and postgraduate dentists and has organised and taught on courses in Oral Surgery, Implants, Patient anxiety around the World. Over 1,000 people have been trained on his live courses. He is also involved in the running of VT equivalence courses in the UK.

He also received a medal from the Royal Society of Medicine for outstanding research. He still maintains visiting lectureships Worldwide. Robert developed and is the Director of Pro Dental CPD the largest provider of online dental CPD in the UK.
Director of the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology) one of the largest organisations of it’s type in the World and acts as clinical adviser to a number of dental companies.

Lecturer profileJoanne Richardson worked as a dental nurse until qualifying as a Operating Department practitioner in 1994 and started work at Sheffield Hospital Foundation Trust. In 2005 she accepted the role of Resuscitation Officer teaching cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)and Medical Emergencies skills to all grades of clinical staff. She is a Resuscitation Council UK Advanced Life Support Instructor and Neonatal Life Support instructor.

Lecturer profileNicki’s career began in 1992 as a chartered, state registered physiotherapist with a special interest in head and neck pathology. This included working with oncology patients as well as in an outpatient musculoskeletal department.

Nicki has lived and breathed practice management since opening Perfect 32 Dental Practice in East Yorkshire with her husband in 2005. Over the past 10 years, she has nurtured her team to achieve exemplary standards in both clinical and customer service based areas of work and as a result the practice has won countless awards. These include The National Training Awards for Yorkshire and Humber in 2010, as well as being a national finalist in the Small Employer category that year. In 2011, Perfect 32 won The Training Business of the Year Award at the local Chambers of Commerce Awards and Nicki her self was awarded Practice Manager of the Year by the UK’s Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM) in 2012.

Nicki was invited to be a consultant for the Mouth Cancer Foundation in 2012 and has been a key player in the development of the Mouth Cancer Foundation’s UK initiative called the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme (MCSAS). She has represented the charity at industry conferences and speaks publically about a practice management approach to combatting oral cancer.

Nicki has recently set up her own business, Practices Made Perfect by Nicki Rowland, primarily as a dental consultancy and training organisation. She is impassioned about sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with other practices to help them survive and grow in the present tough economic and political climates. Success, Nicki believes, lies in innovation – accomplished through the introduction of not just new products and technologies, but better services, different business processes, and ‘exciting and inspirational’ initiatives too.

Lecturer profileHelen Till qualified as a RGN in 1989 and worked in acute care medicine before settling into a career in cardiac nursing whilst undertaking the advanced diploma in cardiac care nursing. In 1999 she accepted the role of Resuscitation Officer at Sheffield University Hospitals, later becoming Senior Resuscitation Officer at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals teaching cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to all grades of clinical staff. She is a Resuscitation Council UK Advanced Life Support Instructor and Paediatric Life Support Instructor.
