Aims

The lecture will aim to provide the practitioner with an overview of clinical situations requiring a team approach.

Objectives

The lecture will cover a range of clinical situations of interest to the general dental practitioner, paediatric dentist and orthodontist, including: Situations requiring interceptive orthodontic management will be considered. Impacted maxillary incisors, first permanent molars of poor prognosis, hypodontia and the orthodontic management of traumatised teeth will be among cases considered.

Learning outcomes
  1. Understand the importance of monitoring the developing dentition
  2. Identify specific circumstances when interceptive orthodontics may be beneficial
  3. Appreciate which patients require referral to secondary care services
