DescriptionIn this masterclass, presented by healthcare improvement expert Nick Downham, we take time to reflect on the scope, successes, and limitations of much of the Quality Improvement thinking that dominates the NHS—arguing that in many areas, we have reached a glass ceiling. By employing a blend of taught content, data, group enquiry, and harnessing the expertise of participants, we reflect on methods of quality intervention and their relevance in both primary and secondary care. In doing so, we examine the case for greater Quality Thinking in leadership development and discuss what it may require for the professions and their leaders to question their work more fundamentally.
