About the “Foundation Cases” teaching series:

Delivering education to trainees has become more challenging during the COVID19 pandemic. As such the ‘foundation cases’ series has been set up to provide doctors as an alternative to face to face teaching. To be kept up to date about upcoming events visit our Facebook page.

Aims

These sessions delivered by two paediatric trainees with experience in Neonatal intensive care will cover neonatal issues including:

  • bronchopulmonary disorders
  • feeding
  • prematurity
  • seizures and neurological development
  • sepsis
  • NIPE assessment

Suitable for F1/2’s, obstetric and gynaecology trainees, primary care and emergency medicine trainees, the sessions aim to help you gain confidence assessing, investigating and managing newborns and infants.

Objectives
  1. Be able to identify common neonatal issues from bronchopulmonary disorders, feeding, prematurity, seizures and neurological development and sepsis in the newbown.
  2. Familiarity with the process for first assessment and NIPE
