DescriptionThis 3 part classroom based teaching session is designed for F2 Doctors to develop essential emergency medicine skills that are applicable across all areas of hospital practice. Using real life case discussions and practical frameworks the session focuses on rapid assessment, clinical decision making and managing risk in acutely unwell patients. Session 1 Rapid Assessment & Prioritisation - covers the ABCDE approach, recognising sick vs stable patients & escalation strategies using realistic cases to practise clinical prioritisation. Session 2 Decision Making under pressure - Explores how to make safe decisions with limited information, avoid cognitive errors & apply decision tools appropriately in uncertain situations. Session 3 Managing Risk, escalation and communication - Focuses on how to balance risk, document reasoning & communicate effectively using structured tools such as SBAR, especially when Senior support is limited. The session is interactive, practical and tailored to common F2 challenges on the shop floor, night shifts and acute take.
