Clinical Skills for FY2 Drs (UHP 2024-12)

DescriptionFull day course providing teaching and task training on clinical procedures for FY2 doctors. Some of the skills to be covered include chest drain insertion, lumbar puncture, suturing, IO access, Ascitic drains and Airway skills. The skills will be taught in small groups. The day is running from 10:00 - 16:00 with 5 hours of clinical teaching. Additional information

The course will be held at the Postgraduate center at Derriford hospital, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust - one day course.

Course material and directions will be sent out nearer the time.

There will be refreshments provided but will need to bring or buy your own lunch

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide confidence to undertake such skills under supervision in the future. This is particularly relevant to FY2 doctors entering into skills based specialties.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes: Increased exposure to the above clinical skills using a task trainer high fidelity manikin with experienced faculty.
