Aims

The Mental Capacity Act 2005 is an important piece of legislation that you are legally required to apply in circumstances where consent cannot be gained because of an impairment of, or disturbance in, the functioning of the patients mind or brain. It protects very vulnerable people who are unable to decide for themselves and further, section 5 of the Act also protects you when you are engaged in acts in connection with care and treatment of a person lacking mental capacity. This session is designed to support you to increase your legal literacy.
