Description | Full day course providing teaching and task training on clinical procedures for FY2 doctors. Some of the skills to be covered include chest drain insertion, lumbar puncture, suturing, paracentesis and joint aspiration. The skills will be taught in small groups. Please see the timing of the day: Registration 09:00 - 09:15 09:15- 10:00 - Group A Chest drains, Group B suturing and Group C knee aspiration 10:00-10:15 - Break 10:15-11:00 - Group A - Knee Aspiration Group B Chest Drains Group C Suturing 11:00-12:45 - Group A - Suturing Group B Knee Aspiration Group C - Chest Drains 12:45-13:45 -Lunch 13:45-14:30- Group A - Ascitic Taps Group B Airway Group C Lumbar Puncture 14:30-15:15 Group A Lumbar Puncture Group B Ascitic Taps Group C Air Way 15:15-16:00 Group A - Airway Group B Lumbar Puncture Group C - Ascitic Taps 16:00-16:15 - Questions and Debrief |
Additional information | The course will be held at the Postgraduate center at Derriford hospital, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust - one day course. Course material and directions will be sent out nearer the time.
