Clinical skills training for Foundation year 2 doctors (UHP 2022 -12)

DescriptionFull day course providing teaching and task training on clinical procedures for FY2 doctors. Skills to be covered include chest drain insertion, lumbar puncture, suturing, paracentesis and joint aspiration. The skills will be taught in small groups. Additional information

The course will be held at the Postgraduate center at Derriford hospital, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust - one day course.

Course material and directions will be sent out nearer the time.

Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide confidence to undertake such skills under supervision in the future. This is particularly relevant to FY2 doctors entering into skills based specialties.

Learning outcomes: Increased exposure to the above clinical skills using a task trainer high fidelity manikin with experienced faculty.
