| Description | General surgery topics including the acute abdomen, hernias, acute vascular presentations, diverticular disease, colorectal cancer and an introduction to robotic surgery simulation for Foundation Year 2 Doctors as well as advice for how to succeed in core training . A mixture of didactic and interactive teaching sessions covering general surgery topics and practical surgical skills with suturing, knot tying and robotic simulator coaching. Aims: To give a good theoretical understanding of common general surgery presentations. To improve basic surgical skills. To develop an understanding of the DaVinci Robot and experience robotic simulation. To provide advice and guidance for applying for and succeeding in Core Surgical Training. Learning Outcomes: the course links with the following Foundation Professional Capabilities (FPCs) in the 2021 Foundation Programme Curriculum: 2, 6, 12, 13 |
