Aims

To provide a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary update on integrated adult dental anxiety management pathways—spanning biological, psychological, primary care, and specialist interventions—alongside an evidence-based review of modern paediatric dentistry practices.

Objectives
  • Evaluate the regional anxiety care continuum across primary care (Tier 1 & Tier 2), Community Dental Services (CDS), Clinical Psychology, and Hospital Care.
  • Integrate minimally invasive oral healthcare and cognitive behavioural approaches to reduce biological and sensory anxiety triggers before escalating to sedation or GA.
  • Examine contemporary sedation modalities (IV, Inhalation Sedation, Anaesthetist-led) and general anaesthesia decision-making frameworks.
  • Review modern paediatric caries management, behavior shaping, and specialized treatment pathways.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the day, delegates will be able to:

  • Navigate regional referral pathways to route anxious patients to the most appropriate tier of care (Tier 2 Oral Surgery, CDS, CBT, or Hospital GA).
  • Incorporate minimally invasive restorative dentistry and biological disease arrest into phobic patient treatment plans.
  • Apply cognitive behavioural techniques and inhalation sedation to step patients down from pharmacological dependency.
  • Apply modern paediatric caries management protocols, trauma management, and behavior shaping strategies in clinical practice.
