Aims

Rebecca Bland:

To give General Dental Practitioners more confidence in asking about reasonable adjustments and implementing them to improve the quality of their patient care.

Simon Tiller:

An overview of the range of domiciliary dental care provided to medically compromised patients by Community Dental Services.

Petrina Wood:

To educate and enhance understanding of the role of special care, as both CDS and hospital based services.

Objectives

Rebecca Bland:

  • To explain what a reasonable adjustment is
  • Provide examples of simple reasonable adjustments
  • Give working examples of reasonable adjustments in practice

Simon Tiller:

To discuss the:

  • Types of patients where domiciliary dental care is appropriate
  • Scale of the issue and the barriers to care
  • Referral pathways and appropriate referrals

Petrina Wood:

  • Recognise what needs to be in a referral for care
  • Review what can be done in CDS, domiciliary care, hospital and GA setting
  • Identify contact of who can advise if in doubt

To enhance understanding of domiciliary dental care, enabling participants to identify appropriate procedures and recognise key portable equipment used in practice.
