Aims

To understand the mode of transmission of micro-organisms and the methods of Infection prevention and control including roles and responsibilities within a dental practice setting

Objectives

• Recall the diseases/micro-organisms patients are likely to present with and how onward transmission can be prevented/controlled

• Demonstrate good hand hygiene

• Recall the order for safe donning and removal of PPE

Learning outcomes

Outline essential and best quality requirements of the HTM 01-05 guidelines, assess own practice level of compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Demonstrate recognition of effective measures to manage the risk of physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the practice of dentistry.
