DescriptionThis full day hands-on session is predominantly designed to improve the delegates’ understanding of the basics of photography, photographic equipment (relevant to dentistry) as well as develop their technical skills for clinical practice. There will also be elements and opportunity to discuss auxiliary equipment and techniques used in dental photography as well as use of post-production and data protection.

Aims
  • To improve understanding of photographic equipment and theory relevant to dentistry.
  • Give delegates the confidence to use photography in regular clinical practice.
  • Ensure delegates can take high quality intra oral dental and extra oral photographs.
Objectives
  • Discuss the components of the camera and considerations when purchasing equipment.
  • Understand the settings to be used for different views in dental photography.
  • Explain the standard views used for intra oral and extra oral dental photography.
  • Practice the techniques described.
  • Explore additional equipment and techniques used for intraoral and portrait photography to take creative photographs.
Learning outcomes

Following the session delegates will:

  • Be comfortable with using a camera.
  • Start to integrate photography into regular clinical practice.
  • Have the ability to use photography to communicate with patients and the dental team.
