Aims

To establish the importance of utilising rubber dam in the COVID era and offer a step-by-step update on the tools and the techniques to integrate isolation into clinical practice.

Objectives
  • Understand the importance of mitigation in reducing COVID transmission risk and facilitating the practise of dentistry in the COVID era
  • Recognise the benefits of rubber dam
  • Encourage the placement of rubber dam routinely with one or two methods in reserve for more challenging cases
  • Establish the importance of familiarising the nurse with the routine techniques used to facilitate Rubber Dam placement with particular regard to 4 Handed Dentistry.
Learning outcomes

Following the session, participants will be able to use rubber dam effectively in practice and to use this skill to reduce fallow time and increase practice efficiency.
