To give an overview of the early-phase evaluation of the National Supervised Toothbrushing Programme, led by the Public Health Interventions Rapid Studies Team at PHRESH.

Objectives
  • Discuss the purpose and scope of the National Supervised Toothbrushing Programme and the rationale for its early‑phase evaluation.
  • Explain the evaluation methods used by the Public Health Interventions Rapid Studies Team (PHIRST) at PHRESH.
  • Explore key findings and emerging themes from the early‑phase evaluation work.
  • Recognise the challenges and opportunities in implementing and evaluating supervised toothbrushing initiatives at scale.
  • Review how evaluation outcomes inform policy, commissioning, and future programme development.
Learning outcomes

Participants will gain insight into the aims and impact of the National Supervised Toothbrushing Programme,and will be able to apply this evidence to support programme delivery, local planning, and wider oral health improvement.
