DescriptionThe nationally recognised BDA Education Certificate in Oral Health Education, seamlessly combines online modules with four interactive in-person sessions, supported by NHS England. It aims to equip Dental Nurses with vital knowledge, hands-on experience, and the requisite skills to support patients while simultaneously elevating their professional opportunities.

This course has been designed to facilitate the attainment of the BDA qualification in Oral Health Education.

We want to emphasise that this course demands significant effort and commitment from learners, so please carefully consider your readiness before applying. Those who are unable to complete the course will be liable for the full cost of the course.

Before proceeding with your application, please review the following important information:

The BDA Online course will commence on Monday 8th September 2025. Access to modules will be through the BDA Portal.

To attain this award, students are required to:

  • Attend all four study sessions.
  • Hold a recognised dental nursing qualification.
  • Be registered with the GDC (General Dental Council).
  • Obtain consent from a dentist who is willing to support your practical work.
  • Have access to a variety of patients.
  • Possess a computer with internet access and audio-visual capabilities, including a camera and microphone.

The on line examination is scheduled for Saturday 14th March 2026

By applying for this course, it is understood that the student agrees to be available for each teaching session and can be released from practice accordingly.

The qualification will be conferred by the BDA, the fee includes the exam fee.

All 40 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours will be awarded by the BDA.

Keep in mind that NHS England provides substantial funding for this qualification. If you need to cancel the course at short notice after enrolling, the entire fee of £545 will be applicable. This fee is payable by the applicant if they fail to attend all tutorials, actively participate in the program, or cancel their place post-enrolment.

There are only 12 places open for this course, and selection will be determined by the applications received. It's important to highlight that only one applicant per practice is permitted.

Learning outcomes
