Aims

Gain confidence in helping foundation dentists become familiar in their new roles. 

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss, with colleagues, their experiences of helping people transition to new roles
  • Reflect on the challenges faced by those coming into a new post and those seeking to support them
  • Consider factors that build or damage resilience at work
  • Share a range of skills and strategies to help people through common problems that arise during transition
Learning outcomes

At the end of the study session participants will be able to:

  • Utilise a range of skills and strategies to help newly qualified registrants settle into their new environment
  • Manage challenging situations to ensure that problems do not escalate unnecessarily
  • Help build resilience in the dental workforce
  • Identify the limits of their role and discuss when referral to other agencies may be appropriate
