Aims

To support dental clinicians in recognising that not all syncope events are benign, this session will highlight potentially serious presentations and emphasise the importance of early intervention in cardiac arrest situations.

Objectives
  • Early recognition of cardiac arrest.
  • Determining absent signs of life.
  • What to expect.
  • Management of cardiac arrest using a flowchart based on the Resuscitation guidelines.
  • Awareness of reversible causes of cardiac arrest.
  • Components of the chain of survival.
  • Paramedic will discuss his own personal experience about the film of James “a survivors’ tale”

 

  • What is syncope?
  • Identify sinister presentation of syncope.
  • Management of syncope, including the recovery position.

  • Identify different types of syncope and management of syncope.
  • Recognise and manage a cardiac arrest situation utilising flowchart based on the resuscitation council guidelines
