Qualified in Dentistry and Medicine, he trained in OMFS at the Oxford University Hospitals and Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital. During training, he served as Officer of the Junior Trainees Group, Members Representative and Fellows-in-Training Representative of BAOMS.

Mr Kalantzis is extensively involved in education and training and has taught surgical trainees as demonstrator and lecturer on multiple courses since 2001. He regularly presents papers and has organised and chaired National and International conferences. He is an Intercollegiate FRCS examiner, BAOMS SSIG Lead for Paediatric OMF Surgery and Co-Lead for TMJ Surgery, contributing to multiple national committees, and preparation of outcome measures and guidelines.

Mr Kalantzis is co-author of books, including Oxford Handbooks. He is also author of chapters in other books and is on the Editorial Board of “Medical Problems in Dentistry 6th ed” (one of the top-selling medical or dental books worldwide). He has a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals and has been a regular reviewer for journals.

Mr Kalantzis was appointed to Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in 2013 with sessions at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Trafford General Hospital, Dental Hospital and Salford Royal Hospital. He received a Clinical Excellence Award in 2024.
