I qualified in 1995 at Liverpool University and have worked in General Dental Practice since. I have been a VT Trainee, DFT Trainer, Dental Appraiser, hosted undergraduate students in practice & took a part time role with Liverpool PCT in 2009 as Clinical Governance Lead, becoming one of the Regional Dental Advisers in 2014 for NHS England.
I manage applications to the Dental Performers List, act as a Clinical Adviser and Investigator for NHSE Cases, undertake practice inspections and act as both Adviser and Discipline Specific Member at NHSE PSG & PLDP. I have appeared at the GDC & First Tier Tribunal as a witness representing NHSE. I advise Cheshire & Merseyside ICB on Commissioning issues.
I continue in practice seeing both NHS & Private patients three days a week

Mike is a practicing GDP working in a mixed NHS/Private practice. He has done this for twenty five years and do this 2 days per week.
He was an ES for the Mersey Deanery for 10 years and until he became a Training Programme Director for HEE NW. Mike has been doing this role for both DFT and PLVE for last six years and this take up the other 3 days.
He is also a clinical investigator and complaint manager for NHS England Cheshire and Merseyside, where he reviews complaints and mentors GDPs in need of help.
Mike has set up and works in a practice that utilises both therapists and hygienists to help deliver the NHS contract.

He is now TPD for the JDFCT 2-year scheme which combines DFT and DCT over a two year period.
