Dr Catherine Breen is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist, and is the Deputy Clinical Director of the North West GMSA. She graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School in 2004, and trained first in paediatrics before completing specialty training in Genetics. Her main clinical interest is developmental disorders, and she runs the specialist Angelman Syndrome clinic. Dr Breen has an additional interest in clinical trials in rare disease.

In my current role, I regularly develop and deliver training for health professionals about genomic medicine.

Kate has worked in the NHS for over 15 years, mainly on education and engagement on genetics and genomics. This follows a BSc in Genetics and MSc in Genetic Counselling. She has worked with families affected by genetic conditions and trained many health professionals about the impact that genomics is making across the whole health service.

After qualifying as a pharmacist and completing pre-registration training in 2008, Ben spent almost 15 years as a clinical pharmacist in large acute and teaching hospitals across a range of specialties and services. In 2021 he completed my MSc in Genomic Medicine from Queen Mary, University of London (Award: Distinction) and in early 2023 took up a post with the NW GMSA as a senior pharmacist, working and delivering on various regional/national genomics transformation projects. He has also has a focus on workforce development, regularly delivering pharmacogenomics education & training sessions to healthcare professionals across the NW region.
Currently working for NW GMSA as a senior genomics pharmacist, supporting and leading on various pharmacogenomics projects (both regional and national).
Bens role involves developing and delivering E&T sessions, webinars etc to healthcare professionals on a regular basis.
