Dr Wendy Thompson is a clinical academic general dentist. She works clinically in South Cumbria and academically at University of Manchester. Her research is about care for people with acute dental pain and infection, including optimising antibiotic prescribing. She is the lead author of the FDI World Dental Federation’s white paper on tackling antibiotic resistance and its accompanying on-line course. Wendy recently won the Antibiotic Guardian Award 2020 for Research.
Wendy is an ambassador of the College of General Dentistry, a member of the British Dental Association’s Health & Science Committee, a member of the British National Formulary’s Dental Advisory Group and a specialist advisor to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence on dental antibiotics.
