Nicola qualified as a paediatric nurse in 2007. Her passion for safeguarding developed whilst working as a paediatric burns nurse where she gained exposure to safeguarding investigations leading her to apply for a position as Specialist Nurse Safeguarding Children in 2012 at Central Manchester Hospitals. Since then she has worked in several specialist safeguarding roles across hospital, mental health and community health services. In her current role she is service manager for the Safeguarding and Children in Care teams within Trafford community health services and promotes good professional practice within safeguarding across the organisation.
Nicola has over a decade of experience working in operational safeguarding, supporting with complex safeguarding cases and providing specialist safeguarding consultation and supervision to frontline practitioners. She has contributed to multiple statutory reviews regarding children who have died or suffered serious harm due to abuse and developed action plans to embed organisational learning into practice. |
