Lecturer profileProfessor Siobhan Barry – Siobhan attended the Leeds Dental Institute for her Paediatric Consultant Training. She also completed a Clinical Doctorate in Paediatric Dentistry through the University of Leeds. Siobhan was appointed as a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester in October 2014. She is programme director for the MSc Paediatric Dentistry programme and academic lead for undergraduate Paediatric Dentistry. She was also the Paediatric Dentistry lead for the Greater Manchester Dental Trauma Managed Clinical Network. She lectures and teaches national and internationally.

James graduated in 2004 from the University of Manchester. He worked in General Dental Practice for 6 years before entering specialist training in 2010. He now works part time as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and part time in both generalist and specialist practice. James is the clinical lead for the Emergency Dental Centre at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester. His interests lie in endodontic treatment, acute management of trauma and rehabilitation of patients following dental trauma.

Currently employed by PHE Northwest to lead on children and young people, physical activity and obesity to develop cross sector partnerships and support local authorities around the health improvement agenda.

Initially starting a career in health and fitness as an exercise referral specialist the role evolved in to leading community and health improvement projects on Cancer, Stroke Improvement, Diabetes, Falls, Medicine Management and Elder Abuse.
Her role for 5 years as Healthy Communities Collaborative manager involved bringing together communities and health professionals to work collaboratively to develop tangible outcomes in health and improve patient pathways.

She also worked for a number of years in CVD Prevention and stroke improvement for a Healthy Living Centre and the Cardiac and Stroke Network before becoming a Public Health commissioner for healthy weight and NHS health checks at Lancashire County Council.

Lecturer profileChristine is a pharmacist and lead the National Dental Medicines Information Service. She works in Liverpool at the North West Medicines Information Centre (NWMIC), part of UKMi, the national medicines information pharmacists’ network.
She has lectured to dentists throughout the UK and has had papers published in Dental Update, Primary Dental Care and contributed to the FGDP’s Antimicrobial Prescribing for General Dental Practitioners and the SDCEP’s Management of Dental Patients Taking Anticoagulants or Antiplatelet Drugs. She leads the work of Yellow Card Centre North West which acts locally on behalf of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to support and promote adverse drug reaction reporting through the Yellow Card Scheme.

David qualified from Leeds University Dental School. He completed specialist training in Orthodontics at Liverpool University Dental Hospital in 2003. Following entry to the Orthodontic Specialist list he undertook further training and began a Consultant Orthodontist post at the University Of Manchester Dental Hospital. He is currently Clinical Lead and Training Programme Director (TPD) for Orthodontics.
