Aims

This lecture will present an overview of the current status of dental implantology and the recent technological & clinical advances in this field to enable the dentist to provide appropriate advice to patients requiring implant treatment as well as maintenance of patients with dental implants. The main topic will be “atraumatic Tooth Removal and socket augmentation”

Objectives
  • Discuss the role of atraumatic tooth removal and socket augmentation and review the recent technological and clinical advances in this field
  • Discuss the educational pathways and career options available to dentists in implant dentistry in the UK
  • Discuss the treatment plan options for the management of tooth loss and how to advise patients on dental implant options
  • Discuss maintenance of the dental implant patient
Learning outcomes

After this lecture the learner will:

  • Understand Treatment options for the patient with tooth loss
  • Understand What implant treatment options might be appropriate for different modalities of tooth loss
  • Develop greater knowledge of atraumatic tooth extraction technique
