The session aims to provide an overview of the Dental Public Health component of the Foundation Dentists’ training programme 2020/21 for Training Programme Directors and Educational Supervisors.

Objectives
  • Describe the elements of the Dental Public Health component of the Foundation Dentists’ training programme
  • Review a public health approach to the management of mouth cancer
  • Outline expected evidence of activity carried out during the programme
  • Review the assessment strategy
  • Describe the role of the Training Programme Director and Educational Supervisor in the Dental Public Health component of the programme
Learning outcomes

With reference to the Dental Public Health part of the North West Foundation Dentists’ training programme, at the end of the session delegates will:

  • Have increased knowledge of the elements of the training programme and how it relates to the Foundation Dentists’ training curriculum
  • An understanding of the assessment strategy for the whole programme
  • Understand their roles in the delivery of the training programme
