Aims | - To appreciate the range of periodontal conditions that require treatment and those that do not.
- To understand the principle aetiological and risk factors involved in the development of periodontal diseases
- To understand the importance of screening and assessment for periodontal disease in general dental practice
- To appreciate the range of treatment options available for periodontal diseases

Objectives | - To understand when new treatment techniques, such as regeneration can be used
- To understand the relevance of antimicrobials in periodontal treatment
- To be able to undertake long-term treatment planning in complex cases
Learning Outcomes: The course should enable participants to: - Diagnose periodontal diseases accurately and effectively
- Use BPE as a fast and effectve screening tool
- Select the correct treatment options in a variety of clinical situations
- Plan in detail treatment approaches relevant to individual patients
- Decide more easily when to treat and when to refer
