The session aims to provide an overview of the Dental Public Health component of the Foundation Dentists’ training programme 2020/21 for Foundation Dentists

Objectives
  • To describe the elements of the Dental Public Health component of the Foundation Dentist training programme
  • To describe what is expected of the Foundation Dentists and their Educational Supervisors as they work through the programme
  • To describe the public health approach to the management of mouth cancer
  • To outline expected evidence of activity and its recording for all aspects of the programme
  • To review the necessary assessments

With reference to the Dental Public Health part of the North West Foundation Dentists’ training programme, at the end of the session delegates will:

  • Understand the content of the programme
  • Specifically have a greater understanding of the public health approach to the management of mouth cancer
  • Know what is required in terms of carrying out and evidencing training activities
