Aims

· To give the DFTs a broad understanding of the UK tax system, particularly income tax.

· Using their payslips to date, give them an understanding of the PAYE system.

· Give them an understanding of the repayment of their student loans.

Objectives

· To be able to do a basic income tax calculation.

· Check their payslips and give them an understanding of why some may have been paid different amounts to others.

· Give them the tools to enable them to get tax relief on their expenses of employment.
