  • To enable participants to understand the definition and principles of special care dentistry
  • To facilitate the identification of patients who may require special care dentistry
  • To identify simple improvements which can improve access for special care patients in general practice
  • To appreciate how to refer patients

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to manage patients requiring special care dentistry within their scope of practice and be able to refer appropriately.

  • To enable delegates to recognise the characteristics of a patient who is anxious
  • To increase knowledge of simple methods of management that can be used in practice
  • To inform of when and to where a referral can be made
