Aims | The aim of this course is to educate delegates in the principles of first aid and medical emergencies, including: Basic Life Support - Adult, child and AED. Airway management and use of oxygen. Control of bleeding. Fractures. Causes of unconsciousness. Treatment of burns and scalds. Major/minor illnesses and the use of emergency drugs and IM injection technique. Risk assessments. Use of emergency equipment within the practices. | ||
Objectives | Once competence has been assessed and this qualification awarded, candidates with have demonstrated the following: All the skills to properly assess/diagnose major conditions and injuries. Management in a simulated environment, treatment of a casualty with various medical conditions/emergencies and give appropriate treatment within the parameters of their knowledge and training until more skilled personnel assume responsibility. Team/scene management skills. Knowledge of appropriate drug use for medical emergencies. The safe and effective use of emergency resuscitation equipment. | ||
