To gain and understanding of DCT year 1 at HENW, including the DCT e-portfolio

PM Session:

Discuss wound assessment and understand principles of

wound closure

AM Session:

Through presentation and forum discussion cover all aspects of the DCT 1 year. Hands on session for e-portfolio use

PM Session Objectives:

1.Outline basic management of wounds

2. Describe methods of wound closure

3. Discuss various suturing materials and their indications and

    contraindications

4. Obtain the technical skills for wound assessment and

    closure

5. Outline timing and technique of suture removal

Learning Outcomes:

1. Short clinical scenario to test understanding of theory

2. Practical demonstration of simple interrupted suture
