  • To provide a general update in radiography and radiation protection

Infection Prevention Control - an update of the Health Social Care Act Code of Practice 2015

  • To provide attendees with a general overview of the latest update Health and Social Care Act - Code of Practice on infection control guidance (July 2015) within the dental setting
Objectives

Radiation Protection for DCPs

Objectives:

  • Explain the use of ionising radiation in dental environments
  • Define radiation protection
  • Discuss the principles of dental radiography
  • Describe a variety of radiographs used in clinical environments
  • Consider the importance of audits to improve practice

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply the principles of dental radiography to workplace situations in order to protect individuals and patients.

Infection Prevention Control - an update of the Health Social Care Act Code of Practice 2015

  • Provide learners with the ability to develop the necessary skills to:
  • able to use alco-gel based sanitizers correctly
  • How to effectively carry out hand washing, using the 6 stage Ayliffe technique
  • have an up to date knowledge of current guidance and legislation
  • The knowledge to implement these skills into daily clinical practice

Learning Outcomes:

  • including two practical sessions - all attendees will be taught how to hand wash and use of alco-gel based sanitizers.  Practical session on how to put on an d remove person protective equipment (PPE)
