Aims | To provide members of the dental team with the knowledge and skills necessary to produce a well-organised portfolio of professional practice, which they can present for review in a variety of contexts (for example at appraisal or in selection interviews), to show their achievement of the General Dental Council professional standards and also their ability to reflect effectively on their role and the care they provide. | ||
Objectives | During the course participants will: • Discuss with colleagues the reasons why a professional portfolio is required and the different circumstances in which it may need to be produced for others to review • Consider the role of the portfolio as an illustration of the practitioner’s self-image • Discuss effective ways to structure and present a portfolio • Demonstrate the ability to reflect at an appropriate professional level, and discuss how reflection can be incorporated into a portfolio Course Learning Outcomes At the end of the course practitioners will be able to: • Discuss the importance of creating an effective professional portfolio • Demonstrate skill in selecting, compiling and presenting appropriate information in order to create a professional portfolio that is comprehensive, well-structured and easy to review • Reflect effectively on selected contents of the portfolio to demonstrate self-awareness and areas for further personal and professional development. | ||
