Aims

To be able to assist a GDP in placing and restoring dental implants

Objectives

· To describe different options for placing and restoring dental implants

· Describe patient selection and suitability

· Identify different systems

· Describe the gold standard infection control procedures needed for both placement and restoring

· Give Oral Health Advice in accordance with DBOH toolkit

· Reflect on implant placement and audit procedures

Learning Outcome

Dental Nurses will be able to assist in the placement/restoration of dental implants and the audit process, implement and follow the correct infection control procedures, and advise patients on correct oral hygiene procedures for maintaining dental implants
