Aims

To be able to recognise patient suitability for dental implants and identify the different systems and restoring methods available

Objectives

· Describe patient selection and suitability

· Identify the different systems available

· Recognise the different restoration options available

· Give Oral Health Advice in accordance with DBOH

· Describe post placement monitoring

· Recognise peri implant mucositis and peri implantitis

Learning Outcomes

· Hygienist/Therapist will be able to confidently discuss with patients if they are suitable for implants, and will have a better understanding of the different options available

· Therapists/Hygienists will also be able to recognise the different implant systems when in the mouth and will be able to put into practice the different care approaches needed to look after the differing systems

· They will be able to monitor implants following placement and recognise when peri implant mucositis and peri implantitis is present and what a therapist is required to do to manage these conditions

GDC and qualifies for 3 hours verifiable CPD
