This course offers a highly interactive learning experience that combining access to an online learning platform with 'hands on' training.

Registration for the hands-on day will be from 09:00am with a prompt start at 09:30am.

This course will offers 7.5 hours of eCPD in total.

*PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ABOUT THIS COURSE

Prior to the session, delegates are required to access an online learning platform and to complete 5 modules before attending the Hands on day. 2 hours of eCPD will be given for completion. Failure to complete the 5 modules will result in you not being permitted to attend the 5.5 hour hands on clinical skills section of the course.

Access to the online learning platform will be emailed to you 1 week before the course.

There will be no lunch provided on this course but there are places near by where food can be purchased.

In the event of cancellation, refunds will be issued as a credit to the delegate’s Maxcourse account. Requests for refunds to the original payment card must be made within six months of the date of booking.

Aims

Delegates will be able to perform minor oral surgery (MOS) within a simulated setting, develop their skills, learn new techniques and increase their confidence in aspects of Oral Surgery.

Objectives
  • Assess patient suitability for minor oral surgery (MOS), including medical and dental considerations.
  • Plan and perform extractions ranging from simple to surgical, including management of fractured or challenging teeth.
  • Apply appropriate referral protocols for complex or high-risk cases.
  • Select and utilise instruments and materials effectively for MOS procedures.
  • Understand and apply flap design and bone removal techniques to optimise surgical access and outcomes.
  • Perform suturing techniques to achieve optimal wound closure and healing.
  • Manage oro-antral communications (OAC), including flap advancement and periosteal release methods.
  • Recognise and manage complications associated with impacted teeth, including prevention strategies.
  • Implement pain and anxiety management strategies tailored to patient needs, including local anaesthesia and postoperative care.

Delegates will have greater confidence in conducting routine minor oral surgery within general practice and understand when it is appropriate to refer.
