DescriptionThis practical course explores smile design principles and teaches delegates how to plan, place, finish and maintain anterior composite restorations using direct and index-guided techniques on phantom heads.

Please note there will not be any lunch provided on this course but there are facilities to buy food near the venue.

Aims

To develop delegates’ knowledge and practical skills in planning, placing, finishing and maintaining aesthetic anterior composite restorations, underpinned by the principles of smile design and contemporary composite techniques.

  • Discuss the aid of digital planning and smile design
  • Review the importance of occlusion and increasing composite longevity
  • Be able to choose the correct anterior composite to use
  • Recognise the use of isolation techniques
  • Identify bonding protocols
  • Practice direct composite build ups in the anterior segment
  • Use indexes to aid build ups
  • Polishing and finishing techniques
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify patients who may benefit from aesthetic improvement using anterior composite restorations.
  • Apply appropriate treatment planning and consent processes for anterior composite cases.
  • Select suitable materials for anterior composite build-ups based on clinical requirements.
  • Demonstrate effective techniques for the placement, finishing and polishing of anterior composite restorations to achieve and maintain aesthetic outcomes.
