Aims

To ensure all dental team members understand ionising radiation legislation and their individual and team responsibilities for maintaining compliance in clinical practice.

Objectives

To

  • Review key elements of IRR17, IR(ME)R 17 and the IR(ME)R Amendment Regulations 2024 with due regard to Dental Radiography;
  • Discuss the requirements of the Radiation Protection folder;
  • Identify key elements of a dental radiography Quality Assurance programme;
  • Highlight the training requirements for all team members, with due regard to role and scope of practice
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, delegates will be able to identify key radiation legislation, outline Radiation Protection folder requirements, describe dental radiography quality assurance, and recognise their own training needs for compliance.
