Aims

To enhance dental professionals’ understanding of the Online Safety Act 2025 and its relevance to safeguarding, equipping teams with up-to-date knowledge to identify and respond to online risks affecting children and vulnerable adults.

Objectives
  • Explain the key provisions of the Online Safety Act 2025 and its relevance to safeguarding in dental practice.
  • Identify signs of online abuse, exploitation, or distress in children and vulnerable adults during dental consultations.
  • Recognise the responsibilities of dental teams in responding to online safeguarding concerns in line with current legislation.
Learning outcomes

Dental professionals will understand how the Online Safety Act 2025 impacts safeguarding duties, enabling them to identify and respond to signs of online abuse, exploitation, or distress in patients - particularly children and vulnerable adults within the dental care setting.
