Aims

Through carrying out peer review and self-assessment using the case presentation, it is expected that the foundation dentist will gain insight into their own and their peers performance, highlighting clinical skills, knowledge and working to standards. Using the reflection from their cases, the foundation dentist can consider and focus their learning needs and develop a personal development plan. Through the comparison of your feedback with peers, there is an opportunity to reflect on the knowledge and accuracy that is used to generate appropriate and constructive feedback.

Objectives

At the end of the course the foundation dentist should:

Use feedback to gain an insight into their own work

Ensure the clinical knowledge and skills are updated in relation to the treatment of a band 3 NHS course of treatment encompassing routine dental care to the standard expected of an FD

Promote reflection and self assessment

Learning outcomes

As above.
