This fee includes the practical sessions and consumables, a sandwich lunch and refreshments. Places on this course are limited to 16 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Aims | To enable the Dental therapist to offer evidence based carious lesion management in primary care. Carious lesions in posterior teeth present distinct challenges for dental therapists working within their scope of practice due to the close proximity of the dental pulp and the potential for carious exposures of the pulp. This course will cover essential carious lesion management protocols and address an evidence-based strategies for optimal patient care. |
Learning outcomes | Learning Outcomes: By the end of the event delegates will be able to: • Outline carious lesion detection strategies • Discuss special investigations and radiographic interpretations for carious lesions. • Describe non-invasive, micro-invasive and invasive carious lesion management options • Describe the anatomy of the Dentine-Pulp Complex. • Define current diagnostic criteria for carious lesions and pulpal status. • Discuss clinical protocols for optimal management asepsis during treatment including dental dam isolation. • Develop practical skills in carious lesion management and restoration including optimal pulpal management with Biodentine XP during inadvertent carious exposures. • Refer to these concepts with scenario-based learning. • Discuss indications for onward referral for further endodontic management/Cuspal Protection. |
