Course Fee and Booking Details

The course fee for dentists is £145.00 and includes lectures, a sandwich lunch and refreshments.

The course fee for DCP’s is £120.00. Please select the appropriate delegate rate during the online booking process. Places on this course are limited to 55 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The course closing date is 2nd May 2025. Cancellation policy: A refund, less £20 administration fee, is guaranteed for cancellations received up to two weeks before the start of the course (2nd May 2025 at 5pm). No refund will be made for cancellations received after this date or for failure to attend. Substitutions fulfilling the criteria may be

made at any time prior to the course start. This course must meet a minimum number of

25 to make it viable to run. A full refund will be made if the course numbers are not met.

Aims

This is a bespoke course which will enable all members of the dental team to fulfil the minimum verifiable CPD requirement highly recommended by the GDC. It is an interactive course covering Medical emergencies, Disinfection and decontamination, Radiology and radiation protection, Legal and ethical issues and complaints handling, Oral cancer and Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Learning outcomes

 By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

  • · Recognise and explain the common medical emergencies that may present in practice and how these may present.
  • Explain the importance of decontamination, how to ensure high standards are maintained and gain tips for improvement
  •  Describe the quality assurance required for exposure to radiation and understand the importance of IRMER
  •  Identify why complaints arise, learn how to deal with them effectively and prevent them in the future.
  •  Describe the presentation and aetiology of oral cancers and discuss management principles in primary care
  •  Recall current changes to legislation in child and adult safeguarding and how and when to take action
