Explore the relevance and importance of dental team involvement in supporting children and young people living with overweight and obesity.

Objectives
  • Understand the causes of obesity and relevance to oral health.
  • Recall examples of weight screening practices and interventions amongst paediatric dentistry teams in the UK.
  • Evaluate commonly reported barriers and enablers to delivering weight interventions.
Learning outcomes
  • Reflect on weight stigma and demonstrate a trauma informed approach to care.
  • Increase confidence with weight screening and having conversations about health with families.
  • Be able to signpost families to healthy lifestyle services.
