Aims

The aim of this course is to consolidate and improve your knowledge in conscious sedation in dentistry. It will provide updates on both IV and inhalation sedation.

The morning will focus on the management of children adolescents and young people with the afternoon focussing on adult sedation, including an overview of the newer technique of using Remimazolam.

There will be opportunities for case base discussions regarding sedation cases.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the event, participants will be able to:

  • Recall updates on current practices related to the use of inhalation sedation
  • Discuss the use of IV sedation in children and young people
  • Review the use of Remimazolam in dentistry, training requirements and case selection
  • Discuss appropriate assessment of patients for conscious sedation
  • Critically assess risks associated with IV sedation and discuss ways to improve patient safety
