SubjectPatient Care
DescriptionThis face to face Lecture will be held at MANDEC as part of the Postgraduate Education for the Dental Team (PEDT). This presentation will therefore suggest ways of treating teeth which need operative intervention by using contemporary adhesives to reduce preparations or avoid cutting teeth. It will include a discussion of the current status of dentine adhesives, including the most recent Universal Adhesives, a brief overview of contemporary ways of avoiding crown preparation, for example, treating tooth wear in a minimally invasive manner, using minimal cavity preparations when intervention is needed, repairing damaged restorations rather than replacing them, and recementing fractured tooth fragments. The concept of sealing caries into deep cavities, as a means of avoiding the need for root canal treatment, will also be discussed, with suggestions regarding the use of tricalcium silicate materials for this.
