DescriptionHands-on Oral Surgery Course - designed to help Dentists revise basic extraction techniques and practice surgical extraction techniques, together with the online videos which cover the most common reasons that a MOS patient might be referred.
Additional information

Ideally suited for dentists returning to work after career breaks, or International Dental Graduates.

This course is largely subsidised by NHS England Workforce Training and Education. A small non-refundable fee of £20.00 is required to cover additional overheads and secure the booking. 

Please arrive from 9am for Registration to start promptly at 9:30am

No catering is provided so please bring with you any refreshments you might need throughout the day.

Aims

Delegates will be able to perform minor oral surgery (MOS) within a simulated setting, develop their skills and confidence, learn new techniques

Objectives

Identify, diagnose, and assess patient suitability for MOS within practice

Recognise how to move on from simple to surgical extraction (coping with broken teeth).

Discuss appropriate referral procedures.

Recognise appropriate instruments and materials. Demonstrate the principles of flap design and bone removal.

Demonstrate the principles of suturing.

Discuss the management and associated complications of removing impacted teeth.

Discuss the management of appropriate pain and anxiety control

Learning outcomes

Delegates will have greater confidence in conducting routine minor oral surgery within general practice and understand when it is appropriate to refer
